It is time beer tastes like beer again
we are dedicated to Brewing authentic German Heritage beers in the heart of L.A. German precision, california soul.
THE Beer
We began our beer making journey in Los Angeles with the intent to refocus the attention on what’s inside the can and truly return to the fundamentals of brewing. We wanted our beers to speak for themselves. Without the need for pantry raids for ever more exotic adjuncts. Without screaming labels or marketing gimmicks. We prefer a clean Pilsner or Hefeweizen over a carbonated guava smoothie any day, and figured we might not be alone in this. Most German beers we learned to love back home way back when fit the bill. They don’t leave the brewer much to hide behind. Simplicity can be the hardest thing to perfect. Modern techniques and ingredients make this perhaps a bit less of a challenge than it used to be, but the spirit remains the same - perfect the craft to let the ingredients shine and make beer taste like beer again.
our taproom
If you show up at the right time, we might ask you to help. That’s how close you are to the brewing action in our industrial space in Gardena. Just steps away from mash tuns, fermenters, guys in rubber boots, the sounds of chillers chilling and the smells of malted grains and fresh hops. We are now open from Wednesday to Friday from 4pm to 9pm and Saturdays from 2pm to 8pm. Coming soon are food trucks and a few additions to the eight ice cold, delicious German styles we have on tap. Come by and have a pint of Kölsch, our very own German Pale Ale or the most mysterious dark beer LA has to offer at the moment - Cryptic (it’s an ancient German style, but it loves the beach).

Our Roots
Two Coast’s founders are from the Northern German port city of Hamburg, known for its colorful night life, strong, bitter lager beer, and the way its two rivers, its closeness to the North Sea and near constant rain have made water the defining element of a beautiful metropolis that has opened its arms to the world for centuries. Hamburg is not necessarily known for its beer like Bavaria or Cologne, but the culture is strong nonetheless with several big and well respected industrial beer factories as well as countless craft breweries. We’re Hamburgers through and through, but not to the point where we would ignore the wealth of beer variety the rest of Germany has to offer. As you travel through North to South the local beers shift from bracingly bitter along the coast lines of North Sea and Baltic Sea to fresh and effervescent in the Rhine region to sweeter and more forgiving in the Southern Alps. No matter what you prefer there is an iconic German beer style for you.
